"So, I started to experiment. I offered VIP clients shorter, more frequent appointments and unlimited messaging. People were willing to pay the hefty fee, but this didn't align with my philosophy that health should be accessible. I then tried using learning management systems and email software to drip-feed info when and where clients needed it—at the supermarket, before an event, etc.
The same problem kept appearing. My media and corporate work led to requests for ongoing support that was too expensive without tech. The demand for my specialty sports nutrition (for extreme marathon swims) also exceeded what my team could deliver. We needed a better way.
These problems—in clinical, corporate, and sports—weren't just my problems; they were challenges for all practitioners. I wanted a solution to improve efficiency, affordability, and accessibility for everyone. I didn’t find one, but some amazing people seemed to drop out of the sky to become my co-founders.
We realised the answer wasn't another nutrition app for patients, but a comprehensive suite of tools for practitioners. We've now been building and iterating on these tools since 2018. We're creating the platforms I wish I'd had, built to help other health care providers scale their services and make the world a healthier place."

CEO, Sophus
Why we created Sophus
"My interest in how technology could help my patients started back in 2008. I had a high-volume practice, personally completing over 10,000 dietitian consultations a year alongside a team of about 7 dietitians. I tried to build two apps: an eating trainer for my bariatric and eating disorder clients, and a photo food app to see what my clients really ate. This was iPhone 3 days, and after a few iterations, I (obviously incorrectly now) believed the smartphone fad wouldn't catch on.
But I continued to see a disconnect between what my patients wanted and what I could deliver. I was (and still am) just one person. After more training in psychology and behavioural economics, I realised my way of working wasn't enough to help clients with real behaviour change.
As a regular consumer of the healthcare system myself (due to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and other health conditions), I started to notice my own frustrations. I hated waiting, wanted info at diagnosis, and needed bite-size options to feel in control. I realised my clients must feel the same.

We're on a mission to make healthcare more accessible and affordable.
We're creating digital solutions for delivering better health outcomes at lower costs, empowering health care providers to meet their clients needs wherever they are.
